Screening call
A screening call is a short first conversation, typically 20–30 minutes, confirming basic fit: genuine interest, availability, compensation expectations and the handful of non-negotiable requirements. Its job is to avoid wasting everyone's time later.
Screening calls fail when they become mini-interviews. Their value is in resolving the small number of questions that would end the process, quickly.
Compensation should be discussed here. Discovering a mismatch after four rounds is a pure loss for both sides.
