Sourcing
Sourcing is proactively identifying and contacting candidates who have not applied, as opposed to recruiting from inbound applications. It is a distinct discipline from assessment and typically uses different tools.
Sourcing matters most where the candidates you want are employed and not looking — senior, specialist and scarce roles. For roles with strong inbound flow, better assessment usually returns more than more sourcing.
