Talk ratio
Talk ratio is the proportion of an interview spent talking by the interviewer versus the candidate. A common guideline is that the interviewer should speak for no more than 20–30% of an assessment interview — more than that and you are gathering very little evidence.
High interviewer talk ratio is one of the most common and least noticed interviewing faults. It usually comes from good intentions: explaining the role, putting the candidate at ease, or filling silence that felt uncomfortable.
It is also one of the easiest things to fix once measured, which is why interview intelligence tools surface it first.
